Pensiveness (2017)

2017-04-08 programme“Pensiveness is a musical piece for piano and strings ensemble written by composer Marcelo Gimenes reflecting daydreaming, fantasy and melancholy images. The music revolves around lonely voices struggling to find personal, long-lost connections to known, yet unfamiliar faces and places. Piano and strings entangle in a continuous dialogue, trying to achieve melodic, harmonic and rhythmic bonds, which never seem to happen. These musical elements lay the foundations on which an intimate and poetic journey, intertwined with multiple encounters and conflict, slowly unravels itself.”

Pensiveness was premiered by the Peninsula Arts Sinfonietta conducted by Simon Ible at the Sherwell Centre, Plymouth University, on April 8th 2017.
